Impact - EarthTech

In 2015, world leaders from 193 nations agreed to create a plan of action for a better, more sustainable world by 2030.

The vision is to end poverty, fight inequality, address the climate crisis, protect biodiversity and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity.

The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, also known as the Global Goals, are the result of this ambitious plan – 17 goals for people, planet and prosperity. The Global Goals have been designed to be universal in nature, applying to all nations across the globe, and aim to tackle the biggest environmental and social problems the world faces today.

Our mission is to empower people and scale technologies that help solve the biggest environmental and social issues of our times.

The Global Goals inform us on how to make that happen.

End poverty in all its forms everywhere

Nearly half of the world’s population lives in poverty, while lack of access to food and clean water kills thousands every year.

End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture

Unequal access and inefficient handling of food leaves millions of people hungry across the globe. Yet we know that the world has enough food to feed everyone, and create a world where nobody will suffer from hunger.

Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages

In 2019, the world eradicated two strains of polio. Over the last 15 years, the number of children dying before their 5th birthday has been cut in half. We can address some of the worst killers in the world with simple and effective interventions, and ensure that everyone can access good healthcare.

Ensure inclusive and equitable education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all

Access to education is fundamental to creating a sustainable future. It is the key to prosperity and opens opportunities for everyone. Ensuring that everyone has access to a quality primary and secondary education is key to achieving the Global Goals

Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls

50% of the population is too often denied the same rights as the rest of us. Ensuring equality for women and girls benefits everyone, and ensures half of the world’s human potential isn’t wasted.

Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all

One in three people do not have access to adequate sanitation, causing unnecessary disease and death. Ensuring people everywhere have access to clean water and the basics of sanitation, including toilets, means everyone gets the best start in life.

Learn more

Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all

Current reliance on fossil fuels is unsustainable and harmful to both the planet and people. Ensuring everyone has access to both clean and reliable energy sources helps guarantee opportunities for people everywhere, and gives the planet a fighting chance at addressing the climate crisis.

Learn more

Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all

Economic growth can, and should, be a positive force for the planet. Ensuring that financial progress creates decent and fulfilling jobs, and the benefits of banking and financial services can be accessed by everyone, creates an environment where everyone benefits from entrepreneurship and innovation.

Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialisation and foster innovation

Infrastructure powers nations – to meet the challenges of today, innovative and sustainable technologies need to be developed, while ensuring universal access to financial services and markets will build prosperous societies across the world.

Learn more

Reduce inequality within and among countries

Equality and prosperity must be available to everyone – not just a small group of people – if the world is to achieve the Global Goals. Gender, race, religious beliefs or economic status should not determine your access to opportunities.

Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable

The world’s population is increasing, and over half the world’s people live in urban centres across the globe. To ensure a sustainable future for everyone, modern, affordable, tech-infused communities are key to future urban prosperity and quality of life.

Learn more

Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns

The globe currently consumes far beyond what the planet can provide. Changing our patterns of consumption and production to be less wasteful and more conscious of our natural resources, including our oceans and farmland, will ensure a sustainable future for everyone.

Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts

The climate crisis is a real, undeniable and scientifically-proven threat to our entire civilisation. The effects are already visible and will de catastrophic unless we act now. Deep decarbonisation of our economies is needed, along with innovative approaches to strengthen communities most at-risk from climate change.

Learn more

Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development

Oceans cover 70 percent of our planet, and are essential to our existence – yet we have polluted oceans to the point where there will soon be more plastics than marine life within our oceans. We need to eliminate overfishing, manage our resources in a sustainable manner and find ways to ensure plastics and other contaminants remain out of the oceans.

Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss

Life on land is the foundation to our future. We are all active participants in the planet’s ecosystem, and over time we have caused severe damage to it through deforestation and land degradation. Sustainable use of our ecosystems and preserving biodiversity is key to our own survival.

Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for Sustainable Development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels

Persecution, injustice and abuse tear at the fabric of society, and endanger progress towards a more sustainable future. Strong institutions, justice and peace will ensure that the world can achieve the Global Goals.

Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development

The Global Goals can only be met if every part of society works together. Government, business and civil society require an unprecedented amount of cooperation to ensure we hit, and exceed, the Global Goals.
